Reporting Student Learning Progress
The district will begin a new grading method for the 2024-2025 school year. Standards-based grading breaks down content areas into smaller learning objectives to help better measure student learning, providing parents with more meaningful and accurate information while reporting the current level of learning for each child.
The report card grades reflect a student's academic performance based on factors like tests, quizzes, projects, and rubrics. Non-academic aspects like work completion, attendance, and behavior (personal and social habits) are reported separately to clearly distinguish between a student's academic ability and their overall effort and conduct in the classroom. By presenting both academic and non-academic information, the school can effectively communicate with parents and students about their overall performance and areas of improvement, providing a well-rounded education for all students.
Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, grades K-5 will receive standards-based grading reports. The district's standards-based report card provides information about how a child is progressing toward pre-established grade level learning targets, identifying what students know and are able to do throughout the course of the school year.
The middle school will continue with traditional grades for the 2024-2025 school year, transitioning into this new grading method for the 2025-2026 school year.
